The Southern Courier

Based in Montgomery AL, the Southern Courier was a weekly newspaper that covered the Movement from July of 1965 to December 1968. At a time when white-owned papers in the south either ignored the Movement or distorted their coverage of it, the weekly arrival of the Southern Courier at Freedom Houses, Movement centers, and the homes of activists and supporters throughout the south was greatly anticipated.
