Mississippi 1964
I gained far more than I gave during Freedom Summer and the several months after that I spent in and around the Movement in Canton, Mississippi. I was pretty callow and ignorant on many levels. It would take many years before I processed all that I experienced in that short time. Primed by those experiences I am still struggling with the issues that confront all whites in this country whether all want to acknowledge them or not.
