I worked in SW Georgia & Mississippi from 1963-65 with CNVA (Committee for Non-Violent Action), COFO, SNCC, out of Atlanta and then Sunflower County (MS). I was in jail 14 times between 1963 and 1975. I'm writing a book, From Selma to Wounded Knee.
I'd very much like to hook up with other Civil Rights Movement vets. In June of this year (2000) I attended a Civil Rights Movement vets reunion in Indianola MS, which was very powerful to see. I was awash with memories of pain and joy. I felt like a manic-depressive basket case. We've lost so many companeros!
I've written some stuff. I'm continuing to do so when I can. My time is very limited with work and I'm also a single dad.
I'm 62 and a history teacher in high school.
If we don't tell the stories facism/racism will continue to thrive as you probably all know.
