The SCOPE of Freedom: The
Leadership of Hosea Williams With Dr. King's Summer '65 Student
Letter From a SCOPE Volunteer
Summer Community Organization and Political Education (SCOPE) Project
Working with SCLC and Dr. King was a life changing experience. I have written about it in a number of articles and books, including: "A Personal Odyssey", in the Southern Regional Council's (then) journal, NEW SOUTH, Fall 1972 issue; also, in my introduction to: "The Children Coming On: A Retrospective of the Montgomery Bus Boycott", which I edited and co-authored (with Fred Gray, Frank Sikora & J. Mills Thornton),1999 by Black Belt Press/now an imprint of River City Publishing [877-408-7078]. Via email I can provide a signed discounted copy, plus the NEW SOUTH article. Deric Gilliard, was kind enough to devote a chapter to my SCLC staff & political work & writing for the King Federal Holiday Commission - see Chapter 19 in,"Unsung: Heroes& Sheroes who marched w Dr. Martin Luther King,Jr"/intro by Dr. Joe Lowery.
