Rev. O. Walter Wagner

This is in memorial to my grandfather, the first white minister in St. Louis to appear with Dr. Martin Luther King. Rev. Wagner was a lifelong pacifist, he worked for civil rights before the movement became "popular" During the war years in a church in Jackson Michigan he worked with the local AME church and a local synagogue to "trade" ministers. He spent his life working for social change, was branded a communist and socialist for his work with labor unions, civil rights and his opposition to the vietnam war. I'd hope someone reading this would look at his papers (stored in the archives of the University of Missouri St. Louis, and at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis)
