Donations Needed for Student Aid

For those of you who are looking for a reliable and worthy place to send Katrina donations:

Roy DeBerry, a former civil rights activist from Holly Springs and currently a vice president at Jackson State University, is seeking funds to help bring 500 -1,000 students from Louisiana and Alabama, whose schools will not be opening, to Jackson State to continue their educations. The students will be getting Pell grants, but they will need money for housing and to close the tuition gap about $200-$300 per student.

Roy, who is working night and day to help put Jackson back together as well as to arrange to bring up these students, has asked me to send out messages asking for donations for this cause, in any amount you are willing to give. You can be sure that your money will be put to good and honest uses.

Donations should be made out to:
Jackson State University Foundation/Katrina Scholarship Fund
Jackson State University Foundation
PO Box 17240
Jackson, MS 39217
Attention: Dr. Roy DeBerry.
