White Citizens Council Anti-Civil Rights Recorded Message

In late June of 1965, SCLC-SCOPE workers began a voter registration drive in Crenshaw County Alabama.

To keep their members and other concerned white citizens informed about SCOPE's negarious activites, the local White Citizens Council set up a phone number with recorded messages that played automatically for anyone who dialed in. We referred to these messages as "Dial an Agitation." This is a transcript that we typed out of the July 6th message.
