Poem by Richard C. Raymond

DIXIE DEFINITIONS

Shooting is self-defense,
Even a shot in the back;
Clubbing is maintaining order,
That is, if the clubbed are black.

Unleashing of dogs is protection,
Tear-gassing cleanses a town;
And the keeping of the peace
Is kicking a man when he's down.

Order by nature is white,
A knee in a woman's throat,
School is children in jail,
And freedom is no vote.
