Ellen Maslow
(1940 — 2009)

As remembered by David Doggett
September 2, 2009

I knew her in Mississippi in the '60s, where she worked with the Liberty House crafts cooperative, among other things. Although she became a psychotherapist in her own right, you would have to recognize her last name and ask her to find out her father was the famous Abraham H. Maslow, who pioneered study of the psychology of happiness and self-fulfillment, in other words, sanity, at a time when most people in the field were studying insanity and various pathologies. A couple of his most prominent contributions were the "hierarchy of needs" and the "peak experience."
