Rev. Frederick Douglas Kirkpatrick
(Brother Kirk)

Memories

As remembered by Steve Sedberry

He was very active in the nineteen sixties' poor people's campaign at Resurrection City on the Washington Mall, as a singer at many civil rights events, working with Martin Luther King, Jr. and others. I believe he lived in all three of the following towns in Louisiana: Homer, Haynesville and Grambling (where he also attended college and played football). I met him at Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham in about May 1979. He has influenced many singers and songwriters including me and Eric Levine.
