People's Congregational Church
4704 13th St. NW
Washington D.C. 20011
12 Noon to 5:30

Greetings. I know many of you are grieving and remembering my fatherr. Please join us in a memorial celebration in memory of his life.

Noon to 3pm: Gather and Be Together. (The church agreed to open itself early, because many folks — especially the SNCC veterans — expressed a desire to use this as a chance to be together.)

3-5:30pm Memorial Celebration

Contributions

Also, some people have asked about making donations in my dad's honor. There are two separate fundraising efforts currently in place. The first relates to the James Forman Civil Rights Scholarship Fund, which is being set up at Roosevelt University. Given that the details have not been finalized, we are now suggesting that people who would like to contribute to this fund wait until we have an address at Roosevelt University where contributions can be sent. When the Scholarship Fund has been established, I will make the information immediately available.

The next place to contribute relates to the massive archival project ahead of us, the sorting of his books and papers, and the general expenses incurred by the family when death befalls. As you all know, Jim said "write it down, write it down." Not only did he write he down, but he saved much all of what you all wrote. And he saved everything else too! We will have quite an undertaking before us in the coming months, and as I am dedicated to making sure things are done in the proper manner, any and all contributions are appreciated.

Checks can be made payable to Chaka Forman.
