CIVIL RIGHTS VETERANS URGED TO COMMEMORATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF CHANEY, GOODMAN & SCHWERNER MURDERS

Final program for
Chaney Goodman Schwerner 40th Memorial

12 Noon — 2 PM Food and fellowship, Neshoba Coliseum, Philadelphia, Mississippi.

2:00 — 3:00 PM Resolution Ceremony at Coliseum — Presentation of resolution adopted unanimously by the Philadelphia Coalition, and other officials, recognizing (finally) the evil that was done 40 years ago. You can see the resolution at www.neshobajustice.com.

3:00 — 4:00 PM Transportation of civil rights veterans, family and Mt. Zion congregation members, to Mt. Zion Church via bus (to get on the list as a CR Vet call the Coalition at 601-656-1000)

4:00 — Memorial Service at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Longdale, Neshoba County, Mississippi — with video feed back to the Coliseum from 4 — 5:30 for larger crowd.

8:30 — 9:00 (not yet confirmed) Candlelight vigil led by the James Earl Chaney Foundation at the Courthouse Square in Philadelphia, MS.

7:00 PM to 10:00 PM: Hospitality Suite — Ira Grupper of Louisville, KY and some CR Vets invite any other CR Vets to get together Saturday night in the Philadelphia area at Ira's room at the Pearl River Resort, Choctaw, MS. (2 miles west of Philadelphia on highway 16). Please ask at the desk for room number.

In the spirit of love and reconciliation that illuminated the lives of the three young men whose murders are to be commemorated, we welcome all who wish to join us in this Memorial, in fellowship and hope. We look forward to seeing you as the lives and legacy of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner are memorialized in Neshoba County next Sunday
