Reenactment of Selma-Montgomery March
3/21-3/25, 2003

A SNCC Veteran of the Civil Rights Movement will march from Selma to Montgomery in March (21-25) 2003. Volunteers, CRVets and others, that wish to make this trek, are welcome to participate with him in a re-enactment of the march. Those who are interested and want to participate can contact me, Linda Smith, preferably by email to lindadehnad@hotmail.com, or by phone to (334) 280-1788.

We are getting support for this from the National Park Service in conjunction with their Freedom Trail project.

Our ultimate goal is to reach for the impossible dream, which is to create a SNCC Retirement and Educational Center in Lowndes County, Alabama, and we believe that the march, this form of non-violent action, will assist us on that journey. We are taking it one step at a time; come on and step with us. We're doing what the spirit say do.

Linda Moses Smith

PS Why not start now on a program to get in shape for the march. We'll sleep in tents and duplicate the conditions, and take the same route as the original marchers who walked the route from Brown's Chapel in Selma to St. Jude's in Montgomery and on to the State Capital. Numbers don't count. If you're able to walk part-way, then come; we'll have other more sedentary jobs too. LMS
