SpiritHouse and Every Church A Peace Church Summon Gray Haired Witnesses Forty Years and Older of All Faiths From North Carolina, Virginia, Washington, DC, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York to gather at Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC on November 9, 2002 at 4pm to witness for justice and peace.

THE CALL
Let there rise out of the body of the people of God a mighty cloud of gray haired witnesses from every ethnicity, class, sexuality, religion, gender and physical condition whose testimonies renew our spirits, tenderize our hearts, restore our sight, strengthen our resolve to resist injustice and help us remember the extraordinary power of ordinary people throughout the ages and everywhere to defeat tyrannical empires and military giants.

THE RESPONSE

On November 9, 2002 on the grounds of Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC, SpiritHouse: The Jonathan Daniels and Samuel Younge Forum For Social and Every Church A Peace Church call on a cloud of gray haired witnesses forty years and older of all faiths to step forward to ignite and shepherd a movement to build up a better world.  It is urgent that we heed this call in these violent and troubling times where our government is "drunk" with military might and their greed to possess the entire world.

Freedom Plaza is located at 14th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC.  We will gather at 4pm for a press conference, peace service and prayer vigil.  Please bring signs/testimonies that are a visual representation of your witness.  For more information, contact SpiritHouse at 202-548-7640 or email us at spirithousedc@aol.com.  We welcome all ages.

We call on organizations, congregations, seminaries, and individuals to organize a cloud of gray haired witnesses of all ethnicities, classes, physical conditions, genders and religions in your community to come to DC on November 9 to speak truth to power.  We also call on organizations to send us an email that endorses this call.  Please give the name of your organization, the name of a representative, and your organization's address, phone number or email address.  Please email your endorsement. You may return the enclosed form to SpiritHouse at 737= 8th Street, SE, Washington, DC 20003.

As a first part of building a movement for peace and justice, we especially sound this call to our brother and sister witnesses who live in Washington, DC with us and those who live in close proximity to us in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York to come to DC to inaugurate this movement and to sound the call for a new world.  Because Christianity has been the source of so much pain and suffering, we also call on Christians to be in the forefront of this movement.

By gathering in Washington as a community of elders, we will alert the world that there are those among us who have survived and kept faithful to the vision of building a better world.   In gathering, we offer praises to God for God's blessing and for keeping us in our struggle. As a statement of our gratitude and commitment, we offer up our witness, gifts and resources to the nation and to our sisters and brothers around the globe.

JOIN US 4pm NOVEMBER 9, 2002 AT FREEDOM PLAZA, 14TH ST. & PENNSYLVANIA AVE., NW WASHINGTON, DC!
