Doris Derby Lecture & Exhibit
January 16, 2001

On January 16, 2001, educator, artist, and SNCCer Doris Derby (Dr. Doris Derby-Banks of Georgia State University), who worked in Southwest Georgia/Albany, on the Literacy Project at Tougaloo, and was a founder of the Southern Free Theatre, will speak on her work in the Mississippi Delta from 1963 to 1972. Dr. Derby's lecture will open an exhibition of her documentary photographs of her experiences during those years.  The photographs will be accompanied by materials drawn from her personal papers.

Place: Atlanta, Georgia, in Emory University's Robert W. Woodruff Library, Special Collections Department.
