ROAR INTERNATIONAL invites you to join us for our 8th Annual Fannie Lou Hamer Celebration October 5-7, 2007 in Ruleville and Cleveland, MS.

Friday is "Educational Is Essential" Day. The Fannie Lou Hamer/Charles McLaurin Exhibition and Workshop is on Friday, October 5, 2007. This event will be held at The Fannie Lou Hamer Multipurpose Building in Ruleville, MS starting at 10:00 A.M. We will view photos, video clips, Hamer memorabilia and hear testimonies from some of those who worked and struggled along side her.

On Saturday at noon (12:00 PM), we will continue our celebration with the laying of a wreath at the Hamer gravesite, which is currently under construction with a gazebo and other new developments. We will celebrate Mrs. Hamer's 90th birthday by, officially, kicking of a fundraising drive for a Fannie Lou Hamer Statue to be located at the Fannie Lou Hamer Memorial Garden in Ruleville, MS.

The celebrations will continue on Saturday afternoon with the 7th Annual Amzie Moore/Fannie Lou Hamer Family Day at Amzie Moore Park in Cleveland, MS with live entertainment, food, games and more starting at 2:00 PM.

Sunday, October 7th we will feature ROAR'S Inaugural H.A.D. Humanitarian Service Awards Program in honor of Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer, Mrs. Victoria Gray Adams and Mrs. Annie Devine, three civil rights pioneers from the State of Mississippi who helped to make changes to policies, nationally. Mrs. Victoria Gray Adams was ROAR'S Chief Advisor from 2003-2006 until she died. CRM Activist, Ms. June E. Johnson, is the recipient, posthumously. Her son, Hakim Johnson, will accept the award. Also, The Charles McLaurin "Education Is Essential" Award and Amzie Moore "Agent for Change" Award will be given.
